Audition Notice – She Has A Name

burnt thicket theatre is seeking 5 actors for its world premiere production of She Has A Name by Andrew Kooman. Calgary: Feb 22-March 5, 2011. Red Deer: March 9-12, 2011.

Audition dates: Sept 13, 14th in Calgary location TBA

About the play:
Jason, a young lawyer fights to build a legal case against a human trafficking ring in Thailand. His investigation centres on Number 18, a young prostitute working in a Bangkok brothel whose testimony could make or break the case. Thrust into circumstances beyond his control, Jason is haunted by Voices that usher 18 to her fate. Can he win the trust of 18 and convince her to risk her life to testify for the sake of justice?

Roles: (4 Female, 1 Male)
Number 18 (20-25): young Cambodian prostitute working in Bangkok

Marta (30-50): overseer of investigation

Mamma (30-50): Thai woman who oversees the brothel

Jason (25 – 35): a young lawyer undertaking the investigation

Ali (25-35): Jason’s wife

*All Female Roles also play members of the chorus of Voices

Rehearsals will be held in Calgary and Strathmore in January and Febuary 2011.
