Calgary Folk Music Festival
: Resource and Fundraising Manager

The Calgary Folk Music Festival seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, well-organized diplomatic professional with superior negotiating skills to direct and enhance its development and sponsorship program for the Festival, Festival Hall and year-round special events. Fundraising experience with an arts organization is preferred.

The Festival is a non-profit, charitable community organization that, according to the Globe and Mail, produces one of “the seven musical wonders of the world” – the annual Calgary Folk Music Festival at Prince’s Island Park.

As a key member of the Festival team, you will work with a fantastic and dedicated board, over 1600 enthusiastic, fun-loving volunteers and a terrific administrative staff.

In collaboration with the general manager and artistic director, you will:

• establish and maintain the strategic direction of all philanthropic giving and corporate sponsorships
• identify new development opportunities and potential supporters in order to build new relationships
• manage and steward relationships with supporters, ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered
• support granting applications and foundation relationships
• maintain database and files of sponsors and donors

You:

• have been involved with organizing events and festivals
• are experienced in, and comfortable with, soliciting contributions with individuals, corporations and foundations
• understand the importance of, and have the ability to, deliver superior customer service and steward relationships with individual and corporate donors
• are equally comfortable in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors
• have the ability to think creatively and strategically
• have excellent written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills
• are comfortable working within tight deadlines
• have excellent problem-solving abilities
• are passionate about music and the arts and have an appreciation for their intrinsic value and the role they play in shaping and enriching our society.
• are proficient with computers and standard office programs, preferably in a Mac environment
