Looking For Artists To Take Part In the High Performance Rodeo +15 Parade

We are looking for visual artists, dancers, musicians, actors and people of all trades, backgrounds and cultures to take part in this years +15 Parade to Celebrate the year of the DRAGON during the High Performance Rodeo.

We need people that are interested in being involved to dance, operate the dragon and be a part of the fun atmosphere.

What: After the success of the inaugural +15 Chinese New Year’s Parade, High Performance Rodeo is planning next year’s follow-up event: The Year of the Dragon +15 Art Parade. The event will be a colourful collision of traditional and contemporary culture: multicultural, multidisciplinary, multi-generational. The Year of the Dragon +15 Art Parade will bring a rush of energy to the afternoon corporate rush hour. This year will including a 35 foot long Chinese dragon that will dance along the parade route.

When: Friday, January 23, 2012; from 3PM – 6PM

Where: The +15 Chinatown Art Parade will muster at 3PM in the Atrium of the Sun Life Plaza (4th Ave. & 1st St. SW). At 4PM, the event will travel through the James Short Parkade; west through TransCanada Tower, Fifth Avenue Place, Calgary Stock Exchange Building and Calgary Place; south through 333 – 5th Ave., Energy Plaza, TD Square and Banker’s hall. Arriving at the Bankers Hall Atrium (888 3rd Street SW) at 5PM, the event will culminate in a performance party before dissipating at 6PM.

Why: Because it’ll be a whole lot of fun! An extension of One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo, The Year of the Dragon +15 Art Parade is a perambulating performance event that heralds the arrival of the Chinese New Year. The parade is free to all. High Performance Rodeo is Calgary’s International Festival of the Arts, held each year throughout the month of January.
