Mount Royal Conservatory seeking instructors for new Fall and Winter courses

The Mount Royal Conservatory is looking for qualified teachers to lead and develop new group classes beginning in Fall 2012. Successful candidates will foster a non-threatening environment, be flexible, supportive, and non-judgmental, and have a passion for teaching adult beginning students. Applicants must be self-motivated and willing to further develop their course activities as these areas grow. We offer a friendly, collaborative environment and competitive pay.

We are seeking music instructors to teach and develop one or more group classes, including:
• How to Read Music (Beginners)
• Eurhythmics for Seniors
• Produce Your Own Record
• Intro to Drumming (Drumming circle)
• Learn to Play Piano by Ear (Adult beginners)
• Learn to Play Guitar by Ear (Adult beginners)
• Adult Beginner Orchestra*
• Adult Beginner Band*

*The instructors we hire to lead the Adult Beginner Orchestra and Adult Beginner Band will be open-minded, creative, and willing to arrange music for beginning students in a band or orchestral setting.

Qualifications:
• 4-year university degree or equivalent professional experience
• 5 years’ relevant teaching experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to grow the course activity

Duties:
• Providing nurturing, engaging music instruction to a variety of students at a primarily beginning level of development
• Curriculum development
• Reporting duties as necessary
