  • Contextural Summer Residency Call for Submissions

    For the past two years, Contextural: a fibre arts cooperative has held a hugely successful summer residency program within the studios of the Alberta College of Art + Design, Fibre Department. We are now getting ready for our third residency and are currently inviting expressions of interest from fibre artists and students who are interested in working within a co-operative studio setting and are seeking affordable studio space with specialized dye and print equipment.

    One month and three month residencies are available.
    Dates for the one month residency are
    May 30th - June 30th or July 25th - Aug 22nd
    Dates for the three month residency are
    May 30th - Aug 22nd

    NEW!!! This year Contextural is offering the Contextural Summer Residency Scholarship, consisting of studio fees for the three month summer residency ($250 value) and $250 for supplies. The scholarship will be awarded based on the quality and completeness of the application.

    Touchstones Nelson is currently seeking proposals from artists working in all media for the 2011/ 2012 exhibition season!
    Touchstones Nelson is located in downtown Nelson BC, and houses two contemporary art galleries as a well as a permanent historical exhibit. Our galleries feature solo and group exhibitions by regional, national and international artists.

  • Call to artists of Latin heritage

    Call for Proposals: Contemporary Latin Artists Exhibition

    An exhibition of work created by contemporary Latin artists will be showcased in the Window Galleries throughout the months of October, November and December 2011. The Visual and Media Arts Program at the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts invites artists of Latin heritage currently residing in Calgary, Alberta to submit proposals for this group exhibition.

    Please note: If you are applying for the Contemporary Latin Artists Exhibition call for submissions and a call through the regular programming please provide separate application forms.

    Deadline: Monday, March 22, 2010
    Notification: Artists will be notified about the status of their proposal by June 2, 2010.
    Window Galleries:
    These seven window spaces are located across from the Max Bell Theatre. Four of the windows are conducive to sculptural/installation work, three of the windows are more suited to 2D artwork. Each window is painted theatre black, they all have different measurements, with some equipped with lighting and power sources. Artist honorariums are paid for the Window Galleries.
    Exhibitions will be promoted through digital media (email and the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts website).
    Please note that the Window Galleries are located in high traffic areas, members of the public from all ages and backgrounds will be viewing the artwork.
    All Submission must include the following information to be considered:
    1. Application form.
    2. Proposal (maximum of 2 pages): Clearly outline your proposed exhibition or project. Include any special installation requirements.
    3. Artist Statement: (maximum of 1 page).
    4. Curriculum Vitae: (maximum of 3 pages).
    5. Image list (included on the application form).
    6. Support Material: A CD with no more than 15 JPEG images (300 dpi and sized to 800 pixels maximum) and/or a DVD for video (no longer than 5 minutes in length). All images must be numbered and labeled to match the corresponding image list.
    7. Self-addressed stamped envelope: submissions will not be returned without the SASE. Postage must be valid for mailing from within Canada.
    Please ensure that your name and title of the proposed project is clearly marked on each part of the submission, including all support material. DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS, PROPOSALS WITH STAPLES OR FOLDERS. Note that the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is not responsible for the loss or damage, however caused, of materials submitted in support of an application.
    PLEASE NOTE: Slides, website address, printed images and VHS tapes will not be reviewed.

    THE EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts Visual & Media Arts Programming

    CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR 2011 PROGRAMMING:
    Ledge Gallery/Window Galleries (artist fees are paid for all programming).

    Submission Guidelines & Application: All submissions must arrive by 4:00 PM on Monday, March 22, 2010

    The EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is announcing a call for submissions of visual art from Calgary and surrounding area (please note that we do not pay for shipping or travel at this time) artists and art collectives for the following spaces:

    The LEDGE GALLERY:
    This unique space is located in the +15 and overlooks Centre Court from the second floor of the Centre.

    The LEDGE is most conducive to sculpture, installation and performative pieces – please note that the work is viewed from outside of the windows looking in. Exhibitions in this location will run for three month intervals. An artist fee of $1500.00 is paid for this location.

    Area Specifications:
    There are two power outlets. The longest length of the space is 24 ft 11 inches (connects both spaces), the shortest length is 10 ft 6 inches (the space is constructed into two boxes that are connected to create one space, the second box is 13 ft 10 inches). There is also a balcony space that overlooks the downstairs hall near Arts Learning.
    Exhibitions will be promoted through digital media (email and the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts website).

    Window Galleries:

    Please note that both the LEDGE and the Window Galleries are located in high traffic areas, members of the public from all ages and backgrounds will be viewing the artwork.
