  • The Summer Animation Workshop at the Creative Kids Museum

    The Animation Workshop
    A special summer program at the
    Creative Kids Museum at TELUS World of Science – Calgary

    Join professional award winning animators Carol Beecher and Kevin D.A. Kurytnik from Fifteen Pound Productions to produce an animated film as part of the ASIFA (Association International du Film d'Animation) Workshop Group for the “Olympics, Let’s Fantasize!” animation project. Participants lead the process, from planning, storyboarding, drawing, exploring non-digital techniques, filming, editing, and sound creation, with a celebratory screening of the completed project, as well as learning about the history and wide variety of animated film.

    July 7-18th (2 weeks) M,T,W,Th,F. from 9:00 am -4:00 pm
    (Pre and Post care: 8:00 am – and 9:00 am and 4:00 pm– 5:30 pm for an additional fee)
    Ages 10 -12 years, Maximum class size: 12 (minimum to run 6 participants)
    Price: $390.00 per person.
    Audition application process: 
Why? The resulting animated film from this program will be submitted to represent Canada as part of the final ASIFA Workshop Group project, with screenings during China's Olympic celebrations in Beijing, as well as other international animation festivals, including Japan and Portugal. We therefore want to have participants who show aptitude and serious commitment for project.
    Interested participants are required to submit a portfolio for review. This may be a sketchbook, finished drawings and/or a sample of animation work.

    Deadline for submission: Monday May 12th 4:00 pm
    Successful participants notified May 20th
    Registration is complete once full payment has been made.
    Unsuccessful participants (if any) will also be notified and are able to transfer into a TWS or CKM summer camp if space is available.

Dr. Bevan is a three-time winner in the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors’ Composition Competition, and has been commissioned by many of Canada’s finest choirs.
