The Mayor's Evening for Business and the Arts: Tickets on Sale
- Posted July 6th, 2009
Tickets are now available and going quickly for The Mayor's Evening for Business and the Arts, taking place on Monday, September 21 at 6:30pm in the Jack Singer Concert Hall! This event is designed to celebrate the relationship between business and the arts in Calgary, recognizing artists who are doing significant work and the businesses that support them and make their work possible. This year, the reception, awards presentation and performances will be a featured element of Culture Month and will cap off the excitement of Alberta Arts Days, shining a spotlight on businesses and artists that are key to the arts community.
This is the Mayor's Shout-Out to business and the arts, and throughout
the summer, arts organizations will be giving shout-outs to their
supporters, celebrating their own partnerships with sponsors,
volunteers, donors and the community. Keep an eye out for these
organizations making some noise about the arts and showcasing the many
artists, performances, companies, exhibitions, galleries and more that
Calgary has to offer.
This year's theme is "Exciting Beginnings at the Centre of an
Inspiring Tradition." The night will showcase established and
emerging artists, recognizing their diversity of experience, style and
genre; as well as the important role of mentorship in the
arts.
There are 5 award categories; 2 for patrons and 3 for artists:
o TELUS Arts Award for Artistic Innovation
o Patron Award for Innovative Support
o Arts Award for Established Artist
o Patron Award for Sustained Support
o Enbridge Arts Award for Emerging Artist
Tickets are $85 for individuals and $35 for students, seniors and artists, and are available through the Calgary Professional Arts Alliance. Businesses are encouraged to take advantage of the Plus One package for $750, which includes 9 tickets plus sponsored admission for an artist who will attend the event with the business, acting as a personal guide for the evening and fostering new connections between businesses and the arts. Plus One packages are also available at CPAA.ca.
Artists from all disciplines who are interested in being a Plus One for a business, acting as a "tour guide" through the arts and connecting one-on-one with the business community can find out more by contacting Alida Anderson at alida.anderson@calgaryartsdevelopment.com or 403-264-5330.
