Calgary's first-ever PechaKucha was last night!
- Posted September 14th, 2009

Calgary joins 226 cities around the world in bringing together our first-ever PechaKucha Night. Devised and shared by Klein Dytham Architecture in 2003 as a place for designers, developers, and architects to meet, network, and show their work in public, the format is simple: speakers present 20 slides for 20 seconds each slide.
Calgary’s first PechaKucha Night revolved around the theme of ‘creative spacemaking’ and were presented by a dynamic list of 12 cultural space creators including Artscape Toronto's President and CEO Tim Jones and Toronto Brickworks chief architect Joe Lobko, Partner with du Toit Allsopp Hillier I du Toit Architects Limited.
Calgary Arts Development has secured the rights to PechaKucha Nights in Calgary and will be hosting four PechaKucha Nights over the course of the next year. Following tonight’s event, Calgary Arts Development will hold a PechaKucha night on December 3rd with the theme ‘How We Live Together’.
