Calgary plays host to some of the world’s top cultural talent this week with the launch of an outstanding fall arts lineup.

Calgary’s artists and arts organizations have made for an amazing Culture Month in our city as seen in the last few weeks. This week their international reach and network is highlighted.

The Calgary International Film Festival’s Mavericks program brings 10 of the most progressive filmmakers on the global circuit to Calgary, and Theatre Junction GRAND presents Orpheus and Eurydice from Montreal’s Compagnie Marie Chouinard.

Judy Chicago, a living legend of feminist art is in Calgary celebrating the launch of her exhibition at the Art Gallery of Calgary, and Thom Mayne of Los Angeles’ Morphosis Architects kicks off the launch of The University of Calgary's Design Matters Series.

Emmy and Grammy award-winning actor and author LeVar Burton is in town at the Calgary Public Library Literary Awards, while world-renowned pianist Angela Hewitt will play a magnificent all-Mozart program presented by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of Calgary’s goals is to create a vibrant, creative and culturally stimulating city, and one that attracts artists and leaders in the creative field from around the world.
