Underground

I crammed into the Hi-Fi club with a few hundred others for the Gala screening of Wristcutters: A Love Story at the Underground Film Festival. The film was great, made even better by the ability to have beer and popcorn and by a good Tom Waits cameo. Way to go CUFF.

Although the Hi-Fi did the trick, it is far from ideal as a screening room. I eagerly anticipate the day when a festival like the Underground can afford to screen in an indy theatre venue either by a reduction of rates on our current film houses or by the creation of a new spot for screening in Calgary that is accessible to our film festivals.

I really enjoyed the screening of 8bit at the marquee room, but also found that it was not an ideal venue.
