Calgary Arts Development is pleased to release our annual report for the 2006 calendar year. As well, we’re delighted to announce that City Council has appointed four new individuals to the Board of Directors: Trudy Gahlinger (Gahligner Consulting), Robert Laidlaw (Acumen Capital Partners), Brent Pickerl (Sandstone Asset Management) and Paul Battistella (Battistella Developments).

“2006 was a year of significant growth and change for Calgary Arts Development,” said Terry Rock, President & CEO of Calgary Arts Development. “We completed a successful merger with the Calgary Region Arts Foundation and made significant progress on several initiatives aimed at strengthening Calgary’s arts sector.”

On the appointment of new Board members, Mary Rosza de Coquet, Board Chair said, “We’re very excited to be welcoming these exemplary community leaders into our organization. After such a successful year, I’d like to thank City Council as well as our dedicated Board of Directors for their ongoing commitment to the organization. And I’d especially like to recognize the contributions of departing Board members Brian Felesky, Jake Louie and Yves Trépanier.”

New Board members are appointed according to Calgary Arts Development’s governance policies. Following a public call for nominations, candidates are assessed based on identified strategic needs of the organization and recommended for appointment by the Board of Calgary Arts Development. Candidates are appointed by City Council at an annual meeting with the shareholder, the City of Calgary. Calgary Arts Development, the city’s designated arts development authority, is a not for profit corporation with 100% of its shares owned by the City of Calgary.
