Free Zen media release
- Posted by Shaun FreeZen on July 25th, 2007
In 2003 Shaun Friesen
received his BFA with distinction at the Alberta College of Art and Design in
the Media Arts and Digital Technologies program, and he has
been honing his skills as a digital ninja ever since. Shaun launched his
company Free Zen Design in 2005, blending both his art and business practice. After
a deep winter hibernation in 2007 many Free Zen projects are blooming with the
spring season.
Recently Shaun was at
Knox United Church supporting UK singer Lucinda Drayton (http://www.blissfulmusiclucinda.blumoonart.com/)
with colorful projected animation. A successful collaboration with Calgary’s
Area709 crew (http://www.Area709.com) at
their Burning Man Fundraiser “Ecotopia” followed. Shaun installed work from his
series “Digital Sun”, combining a large format digital print, projected slides
and digital animation to unify space throughout the evening.
A long anticipated
project reached completion with the release of “Wolves,” the new music video
from the band Inner Surge. A radical departure from Inner Surge’s previous
video "Retribution Song", Shaun’s directorial debut applies
multimedia collage and conceptual animation to illustrate the song’s difficult
subject matter – the 1994 Rwandan genocide. "Wolves" is be available
for viewing and download at http://www.FreeZen.ca/Wolves.

website (http://www.FreeZen.ca) has expanded.
It now includes an online art journal, free custom wallpaper, and catalogue -
