LiveRush!

It's been a rush. Since today is my last day at Calgary Arts Development, I thought I would attempt writing a blog. I have to admit I've been sort of afraid of blogging (even though blogging dates back to 1983 and I still haven't tried it). How does one write about something in a way that is interesting to read; conversational, yet not silly? But, like Terry says when referring to accepting new technologies, “jump on the train”.
I have been working here one day a week since the beginning of the semester, as part of a practicum program through the Alberta College of Art & Design. While at CADA, I focused on putting together a marketing strategy for the LiveRush program. Never heard of LiveRush? It's a student ticketing program that offers low-cost, last-minute tickets to arts events in Calgary like music, theatre, dance and visual arts. I'm very excited to have helped publish the new liverushcalgary.ca website where students can sign up for their free membership, check out events that are LiveRush eligible and connect with other LiveRush members.
I've learned a lot while working at CADA. I've learned what “wiki” and “twitter” mean, and more importantly I've learned that Calgary is an amazing city to be living in and has a community who deeply cares about the integrity of its arts and culture. The people I've had the opportunity to meet are passionate about the arts and want to elevate Calgary as a vibrant and eclectic community. Not to mention the group at CADA who have been kind, welcoming and a pleasure to get to know. Lucky me, I get to come back in the New Year.

Don't be afraid of the blog.
Don't be afraid of the blog. It won't bite you. Besides, syndication is how things are going to work in the near future so you might as well jump in now. How else is there to communicate? Social media and all that jazz...
