Untitled Art Society provides two regular exhibition venues for emerging artists to present works of visual art to the Calgary public throughout the year. Our submission deadline for exhibit programming in these spaces occurs approximately twice a year. A modest artist fee applies to solo juried +15 and main space exhibitions.
All applications must include the following:
- Artist's Statement (1 page max, 12 point font in a .pdf, or .doc),
- Project Proposal (1 page max, 12 point font in a .pdf, or .doc),
- Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max, 12 point font in a .pdf, or .doc),
- Support Material: 8 to 12 Portfolio images and/or up to 5 minutes of video footage, if appropriate. Digital images must be in .jpg format, with file names as: last name followed by numbers corresponding to image list (e.g. lastname01.jpg). Images must be 800 pixels on the longest side max, no less than 500px. Do not submit a website address in lieu of digital files, and no thumbnail images please! Video: All computer-based work must be self-supporting. Do not send original works of art. Contact the gallery if you have questions regarding submitting support materials.
- Corresponding image list including: Name, Medium, Size (H x W x D), Year, Title.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The jury process is a competitive process. It is highly recommended that those submitting consult the the website prior to submitting.
- It is expected those submitting ensure the work/exhibition/project being proposed fits into the UAS mandate. The mandate and information on past exhibitions can be found on the UAS web site.
- It is important to clearly indicate what space you are applying for. Failure to do this may result in immediate rejection of the proposed exhibition.
- Email submissions only. All digital information submitted must be Windows-compatible. Please direct all submissions and related inquiries to info@UAScalgary.org.
- Late or incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

+15 SOUNDSCAPE
A year long contribution to the Soundasaurus Festival of Multimedia Sound Arts
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Submission is open to local and national sound artists (please note that artists must be Canadian citizens to be eligible for this program).
Deadline: Submissions must arrive by 4:00 on Friday, March 30, 2012
+15 Soundscape: Sound artists from across Canada are invited to submit multichannel sound art proposals for the +15 pedway system located in the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts (specific location overlooks the woodshop and is located between Calgary City Hall and the Glenbow Museum). The selected piece must be a minimum of 60 minutes in length; the artwork will loop continuously for a period of one year. This project reaches a diverse population of all ages; content must be suitable for public spaces. The selected artist will receive an artist fee of $3000.00 plus necessary travel (within Canada – maximum $500.00) and accommodations in Calgary for up to three nights. The artist must be available to travel to Calgary for the 4th, 5th and 6th of September 2012 and participate in installing their work to ensure that their vision of the piece is being met.

Festival Dates (please note that the festival has moved from January to November): November 1 – 30, 2012 with a three day festival spotlight in the Engineered Air Theatre November 15, 16 and 17, 2012.
EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts invites local, national and international artists to submit proposals for our mind blowing three-day sound explosion: SOUNDASAURUS!
SOUNDASAURUS is an organized cacophony of experimental sound and performative new media projects. This multisensory festival is located in the Engineered Air Theatre and lobby (the lobby is most conducive to sound installations, small setup performances and soundscapes on the speakers during intermission).
SOUNDASAURUS showcases local, national and international artists. This call is open to individuals, groups or collectives engaged in the production of sound art created with new/innovative media technologies or experimental uses of prehistoric equipment which may include: performance, video art, net-art, installation, composition, performance and related disciplines.
EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts provides professional stage technicians (lighting, sound etc.) as well as artist fees for all programming.

Exhibition Details: April 14 - July 7, Alberta Craft Council, Edmonton
An exhibition exploring contemporary paper and book arts. A joint project of the Alberta Craft Council and the Calgary and Alberta North chapters of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Arts Guild.
Paper and book arts are a vibrant aspect of contemporary craft. This juried exhibition will feature a wide variety of forms, objects, approaches, techniques and concepts found in both the paper and book arts. This major survey exhibition will be presented in the Alberta Craft Council's Feature Gallery in Edmonton. (The Craft Council will work on other future exhibition locations.)
This call is open to emerging and professional Alberta artists (and artists with a connection to Alberta) working in paper and book arts. Original work created outside of workshops or classes within the last five years will be considered.

The Discovery Gallery is dedicated to showcasing new work by established and emerging craft artists and small group exhibitions. The 415 square foot space is located on the main level of the Edmonton location and features 7+ exhibitions a year.

Call for Submissions: Alberta Playwrights' Network Act One - Guest Star Kate Newby

Submit a script in development to receive one-on-one feedback, support and analysis. APN's Dramaturgical Committee and one Dramaturgical "Guest Star" (a notable Canadian theatre professional) read all of the submitted plays. Notes and feedback are generated and a representative from APN will meet with you personally to discuss your work, provide you with the feedback and generate a development strategy tailored to you and the needs of your play. For a $75.00 fee, your play will be assisted in its development through two drafts.
Kate Newby is a Calgary based award-winning freelance director and actor whose work in new play development and the staging of contemporary plays has appeared on numerous stages.

PARK - "Promoting Artists, Redefining Kulture” is a non-profit network organized by a group of young Calgarian artists. We promote and support fellow emerging artists in our community. PARK aims to provide spaces to give artists the opportunity to showcase their talents without charging vendor or commission fees. Our goal as an organization is to expand and encourage the development of art culture within our thriving metropolis.
PARKShow is a fashion, music and art show hosted annually. We are currently seeking artists and entertainers to showcase their talent during our event. PARKShow is an evening event being held at Palliser South; a modern downtown winter garden plaza, on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The event consists of a preshow art exhibition, local designers displaying their collection on the catwalk and live entertainment throughout the evening.
PARKShow 2012 is looking for artists and entertainers who think outside the box in a contemporary and edgy way. The theme; work that demonstrates inspiration from the following vocabulary: fragmented, patterned, geometric and futuristic.
PARK is currently accepting applications for the following:
Art Submissions:
PARK is looking for art submissions from all mediums and must include the following:
• A brief artist statement or resume
• Images of work to be at the show
• Title, Medium and dimensions of work
• Brief description of each piece (2-3 sentences maximum)
Deadline for submissions: Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Art Installation Proposals:
PARK is open to accepting proposals for an installation piece at 8th Avenue Place and must include the following:
• A brief artist statement or resume
• A detailed description of the installation idea, materials intended for use and sketches/photography to help visualize
• 3-5 images of past work which demonstrates competency to execute the installation
• Timeline required to complete installation in the space
Deadline for submissions: Saturday, January 28, 2012.
Entertainment Applications:
PARK is seeking live entertainment that will help to elevate the caliber of artistic stimulation being presented throughout the night. The type of entertainment is open and can range anything from dance, to spoken word, to music. Applications must include the following:
• A sample video or the like, of your act
• A brief artist/group statement or resume
Deadline for submissions: Saturday, February 18, 2012.
